The Upright Readings

temperance, patience, good influence, confidence, moderation, Balance, moderation, purpose

This card is a 'Yes' positive card. You are always able to make a good impression on everyone because of your restraint, patience.

You have amazing confidence. Your patience and balance in every situation are commendable. Make a precise plan for each objective of yours and stick to it until you get success.

The Reverse Readings

conflict, disunion, impatience, discord, Imbalance, excess, self-healing, re-alignment

Your way of working all kinds of energy is wonderful, yet you have to struggle because of the mistakes of others. Isolation, impatience, strife, all this is happening behind your back, knows it. Still, no matter how much imbalance, excess or less, you take stock of each situation, do self-healing; Re plans the situation, realign. This is appreciable.

Temperance

The card Temperance is showing an angel with wings pouring mysterious water from one pot to another. The reason I call it mysterious is that water falls at a 90-degree angle with the ground, but this water is falling in 45 degrees, (..and the air is not blowing.)

Ancient Indian Tarot card shows this as a story of Mohini a nymph. After the Manthan (churning of the sea) by demons and Gods, 14 valuables were found, among which one was the nectar.

The nectar was taken by Demons. All deities requested Lord Vishnu to take it back. Lord Vishnu changed himself into a nymph called Mohini. (Detailed illustration about changing physical body is explained in another tract.)

Mohini was so pretty and clever that with some dance movements she pour nectar towards Gods. The Demons were unable to get the nectar.

The European artist understood only the nymph. He presents her as an angel with wings.

Mohini is the only female form incarnation of Vishnu. In this, he is shown in such a feminine form that can captivate everyone. Being subdued in his love, one forgets everything, even if it is Lord Shiva. The mention of this incarnation also comes in the Mahabharata. At the time of churning of the ocean, when the gods and demons had received nectar from the ocean, then the gods were afraid that the demons might become immortal by drinking nectar.

Mohini Avatar and Bhasmasura

Bhasmasura demon had a boon that anyone whose head he lays his hand on would be consumed. Bhasmasura started the wrong use of this power and went to consume Shiva himself. Shiva asked Vishnu for help. Vishnu took the form of a beautiful woman, attracted Bhasmasura, and inspired him to dance. While dancing, Bhasmasura started dancing like Vishnu then Vishnu put his hand on his head, which was copied by Bhasmasura, who was intoxicated with power and was consumed by his boon.

Samudra Manthan and Mohini Avatar

Rahu, an Asura, disguises himself as a god and tries to drink some nectar himself. The sun-god and the moon-god quickly inform Vishnu, and he uses the Sudarshana Chakra (the divine discus) to decapitate Rahu, leaving the head immortal.

In the original text, Mohini is described as the illusion of Vishnu. Once the Mohini legend became popular, it was retold, revised, and expanded in several texts. The tales of Mohini also increased among devotional circles in various regions. The same expanded Mahabharata version of the story is also recounted in the Bhagavata Purana, Padma Purana, and Brahmanda Purana.
